Elinor Bock, Ph.D.
Founder and Director
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I am the Founder and Director of Therapists of New York, one of the largest group practices in New York. Therapists of New York is set apart from other group practices by our focus on selectively matching patients with exclusively doctoral level psychologists. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, I specialize in supervising and training psychologists who work in private practice, as well as providing therapy to adolescents, adults, and couples. My therapy style is rooted in psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral (CBT), and dialectical behavioral (DBT) therapies. Since 2016, I have maintained and fostered Therapists of New York’s community of bright, warm, diverse and talented psychologists who provide high quality therapy and services to a wide range of people.

My day to day involves working closely with all our therapists and our billing department to ensure that they have the support and guidance they need to excel at their job. My hands-on approach with our team gives me a clear understanding of which patients our therapists work best with and how to support their professional growth. Additionally, I ensure that our therapists are at the cutting edge of the field by providing educational programming and training events that promote sharing knowledge with one another as well as learning from experts in the field.

My role with patients is as a therapist matchmaker; I match every patient who joins Therapists of New York with a thoughtfully selected therapist to eliminate the initial hardships of shopping around for the right fit. My close relationships with our therapists allow me to identify the best fit for each patient who contacts us for mental health services. Simultaneously, I work with the billing department to help patients understand costs prior to starting therapy, manage initial scheduling and smoothly submit claims to insurance companies on our patient’s behalf. In sum, I ensure that all our patients can receive individually tailored therapy without the daunting process of sifting through bios online or the hurdles involved with managing billing and insurance.

I maintain a nurturing, rich and inclusive environment at Therapists of New York for therapists and patients by removing obstacles associated with nonclinical aspects of therapy. This allows for therapists to focus on what they enjoy most - therapy - and for patients to receive the highest quality therapy with ease.

Finally, I am a major advocate of providing access to affordable quality mental health care to people of all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses, as are all the team members at Therapists of New York. This commitment led us to create The Psychotherapy For All Fund: a program at Therapists of New York that increases access to culturally informed therapy for people who identify with marginalized groups, including people of color, ethnic and cultural minorities, LGBTQ+ individuals and people living in poverty. I strive to continue providing varied and tailored therapeutic services for all people throughout my career.
