People form a blueprint for understanding and surviving in the world based on their early experiences and relationships. These blueprints often inform the symptoms and painful and repetitive cycles that lead them to seek therapy. I help my clients develop fresh insights into the origins and power of these patterns, to give a voice to previously unspoken experiences, and ultimately, to discover more adaptive and fulfilling ways of being in the world. My aim is to help my clients reach their personal goals while developing a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships with others.

I believe the development of a genuine bond between client and therapist is one of the most crucial elements to the success of a treatment. I strongly value the connections I develop with each of my clients and I utilize these connections to create safety to allow you to face important truths, to explore and address painful relationship patterns in-vivo, and to responsively tailor treatment to best meet your needs, abilities, and goals at every stage of your therapeutic journey. As your therapist, I facilitate this by bringing authenticity, thoughtfulness, and a sense of humor to the therapy process.

I have an interactive, transparent, and collaborative therapeutic style. I do not believe there is a one-size-fits all approach to psychotherapy and although I primarily work from a psychodynamic perspective, I frequently draw on insights and techniques from my extensive training in Dialectical Behavior and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which allows me to weave straightforward and practical strategies into deeper exploratory work to better address symptom flare-ups and acute issues.

I welcome people of all kinds into my practice, including those who identify as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+. I invite exploration of the ways your identity may be understood and experienced and am open to discussing the ways in which our respective identities may become significant in the therapeutic relationship between us.

Outside of my work as a clinician, I serve as the director of the externship program at Therapists of New York and oversee The Psychotherapy For All Fund: a program that increases access to culturally-sensitive therapy for people who identify with marginalized groups. A large focus of my day-to-day is providing thorough and culturally informed training to developing psychologists and increasing access to affordable and quality mental health care to people of all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses.

Training

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology. Throughout my studies, I received multiple awards for my research on recognizing and addressing moments of alliance ruptures between therapists and their LGBTQ+ clients. During my training, I worked at Marymount College Counseling Center, South Beach Psychiatric Center, and the Manhattan Veterans Affairs hospital. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West Hospitals where I received specialized training in the treatment of addiction and personality disorders.
