Making the choice to seek therapy is often tied to our desire to find relief from pain. This pain can show up as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, trauma, problems at work, or difficulties in your relationships. Other times the catalyst for therapy is an interest in achieving a greater sense of self-understanding. For all of these circumstances, therapy is a powerful instrument that allows you the freedom to make changes. Within the safety of a therapeutic space, examining personal challenges can not only alleviate distress, but also create an opportunity for rich and transformative growth
My style as a therapist is open, experiential, and honest. I listen closely for how your challenges are expressed and experienced, and for old narratives and patterns that may be holding you back. I work from a psychodynamic relational perspective, meaning that together we will explore your relationships and the roles you occupy within them as a way to move toward healing. Therapy is a space to fuse new insight with action. While our work will focus on deepening self-awareness, finding the right tools to help you actualize that awareness and cope with stress and overwhelming emotions is also key. With this in mind, I integrate CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based interventions as appropriate to support our work (click here for details).
I have experience working with a wide range of issues and providing individual, couples, group, and family therapy as well as crisis management. I also have specific experience working with individuals and families affected by COVID-19, including those dealing with a COVID-19 diagnosis, health anxiety, unemployment stress, loss and grief. I believe people of all backgrounds and identities deserve a safe environment to work toward self-fulfillment.
