What to Expect
The group will focus on the psychological impact of experiencing chronic bodily distress, exploring how pain and illness affect your thoughts and feelings.
The group will create space to:
Learn and practice skills that have been designed to help with the experience of physical distress.
Understand the deeper meaning of your pain and illness.
Explore how illness and pain impact self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, sense of identity, mood and body image.
Connect with peers who experience similar challenges
Create a balance between adequately tending to your medical needs and engaging fully in life
The group is dynamic and interactive, incorporating embodied therapy techniques, mindfulness skills, and open discussion. My hope is that inviting our bodies into the room will allow us to not only “talk” but also “be” with our bodily experiences - that way together we can support each other in “re-inhabiting” our bodies.” — Dr. Aleksandra Rayska
